About the Project
Indigenous knowledge systems are linked to local landscape, natural resources, knowledge of the soil, flora and fauna. Among Odisha’s tribal communities, many of these indigenous knowledge systems have been gradually eroded, while some have disappeared altogether.
Identifying 5 such indigenous knowledge systems and their associated cultural practices, social practices and economic activities; documentary films of 15 minutes duration each were conceptualized.
The documentaries looked at the role of indigenous knowledge system such terrace cultivation, labor cooperatives, water management systems, honey and other forest produce collection and healthcare in the survival of these tribal communities.
